Marianapolis College Prep Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 15, 2018
The following describes the collection, use and disclosure of any personal information we may receive from users of the Marianapolis College Prep mobile app and website.
By using our services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information Collection and Use
While using our services, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact you or to configure our services. Personally identifiable information may include, but is not limited to your name and email. The College app may also collect information specific to your device, such as your unique device identifier (UDID) for authentication purposes or to send push notifications. Note that Marianapolis Tech Innovations (MTI) reserves the right to access any of the data collected or used by the app or website in order to adequately maintain the system.
On-Campus Notifications: If On-Campus Notifications are enabled, the app will request access to the device's location and bluetooth settings. Note that the location is only determined in a local context and the user's geolocation is never requested. Additionally, your location and device status will never be shared with anyone.
DISC: The Digital Inquiry Service for the College-bound (DISC) is a service that allows students to request more information from participating institutions. Students build a basic profile and that information is shared directly with the colleges and universities of their choice. DISC collects the following information from every student:
• Full Name
• Home Address
• Current Grade Level
• Email Address
• Date of Birth
• Type of student: US or International
The service may also ask the student to provide additional information, including, but not limited to:
• Phone number
• Gender
• First generation college student? Yes or no
• Ethnicity
• Interests and/or activities
• SAT or ACT test scores
DISC only requires the user to provide basic information to use the service, however will also collect any other details the user provides. The user is ultimately responsible for the information provided and their use of the service signifies that they agree to never intentionally submit false information. User profile information is securely stored on a private database and is only accessible by the institutions that the user has explicitly shared it with.
College Cloud: If the College Cloud is enabled, the app will sync the user's content and settings across all of their devices using iCloud. This feature requires that the user has a valid Apple ID and that they have already signed into iCloud in the device settings. The College Cloud utilizes Apple's CloudKit technology to provide a private database for each user. This means that the information stored in the cloud is only accessible by the user themselves. For more information about iCloud security, visit https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202303.
Lunch & Learns: The College app and/or website will collect a student's first and last name as well as which lunch block a student has free when signing up for Lunch & Learns. When using the website, the registration form may also ask for the student's Marianapolis email address to verify the student's enrollment at Marianapolis, but this information will not be recorded. If a student has dietary restrictions, that information can also be submitted through the web-based form. Please note that Lunch & Learn data is available through our API, but is not expressly made public.
Analytics: The College app does record basic analytics metrics through Firebase Analytics, such as how often the app is open and how long it is used. This data is collected anonymously and is used for the sole purpose of improving our services. Additionally, the mobile app may collect device tokens to make it easier to provide tech support.
Note: Google authentication is handled completely by Google. Please see Google policies for information regarding this process.

Third-Parties
Google
Marianapolis Tech Innovations uses Google Firebase to host the app's website and database and requires admin credentials for authentication with backend systems (e.g. Control Console). End user authentication in our mobile app requires a Google Identity (i.e. Marianapolis email) for students and faculty and admin credentials for system administrators. For parents and guests authentication is handled anonymously in the background. Please see the Google privacy policy for more information on how they handle authentication.
